Happy Friday, my fellow suffering beings. Each week, I share two things I’m digging right now (books, TV shows, movies, music, and the like) plus one online video of nearly zero cultural merit.
A Real Pain: My friend and meditation buddy Michael Bloom, head of Topic Studios, had been telling me about this film (which his company produced) for a long time. I finally got around to watching it, and Michael was not wrong; it’s fantastic. It’s about two cousins who go on a Holocaust tour in Poland. It pulls off the near-miraculous trick of being both moving and funny. Kieran Culkin (who just won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor) should be in all the movies.
Avicii: I’m Tim. (Netflix) I’ll readily admit that this ain’t my kind of music, but I really enjoyed watching this Swedish DJ/remixer/record producer come out of nowhere with a barrage of global hits. As previously noted in this space, these films tend to have the same denouement, but the rise and fall gets me every time.
No way any of my cats would do this.

I have really enjoyed watching Ludwig on Brit Box. Totally absorbing quirky mystery with appealing characters set in Cambridge,England. A real vacation for my over wrought monkey mind. Sometimes we need a break.
I’ve had “A Real Pain” on my watchlist for a while, sounds like I should move it up!
