My wife told me yesterday that all of her friends are coming over on Election Day to do crafts. Yes don’t worry alone.

This made me giggle. Thanks for that!

Dan, I "discovered" you on a trip to Chicago staying at an AirBnB. I had finished my book and was looking for something to read. Tah Dah...there on the table was "10% Happier". That was almost 10 years ago. I have followed your journey ever since; although I very seldom comment. You have helped me in so many ways I could never sit here and type them all. Briefly, you have helped me lately get through the two most challenging, "scary", emotional years of my life. Now, TODAY (with all the politics), even more so. The world is so crazy. My life is so stressful. And yet because of you, I can keep walking forward. Thank you!

I loved reading this note. Thank you so much for sending it. And for following my work! XX.

Might need to add another HOV lane to the meditation highway.

The kindest Friday Fixation to date . The meditation invite at the end sealed the deal. Thank you.

Thank you! Really struggling this week with election anxiety and your podcasts and meditation have been helping. Looking forward to meditating with you next week.

Thank you - I’ll be there. On election night I’ll be at a Taize service because I have too much anxiety to watch election returns. I haven’t been able to send loving kindness to the orange man. The best I can do is to channel Harry Potter to Voldemort, “You’re the one who’s weak. You will never know love or friendship. And I feel sorry for you.”

Thank you for the Harry Potter to Voldemort quote! ❤️

Going to put your medications in my calendar right now. I already need them. 😉 Thank you for doing this!

Was that a typo (medications) or wisdom? 😂 Whichever - I’m going to put them on my calendar, too. God idea!

Friday and slip! There’s actually a linguistic root between medication and meditation, by the way.

Totally a typo!! 😂😂 Although, depending on what happens, I may need medication! Funny thing is you have a typo too and yours is just as funny!! 🤣

Both of those typos had me smiling.

Looking forward to group meditation. I think my boss will allow me to set aside some time to join.

If you are in San Francisco, the SF Zen Center is offering Election Day Zazen (4:00-8:30pm. Come and go as your schedule allows). This will be my first line of defense on Tuesday. https://www.instagram.com/p/DBrNCiGySHd/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

We only got through the first episode so far but my partner (non meditator) is now relentlessly making fun of me, telling me this is my calling, to be a mindfulness guru with an entourage. (He's not wrong).

I’m very interested in the whole how-do-“spiritual”-people go wrong question. I’d watch that documentary! In the early 2000 as the clergy abuse scandal in the Catholic Church was coming to light, I was sooooo disgusted by the bishops’ systematic cover-up of the abuse. How could they read the same gospel and receive the sacraments as I and not-be-transformed?

Awesome and thank you Dan. I look forward to us meditating together. That’s one big bright spot about this sh*t show - it is bringing so many together. Let’s keep it going!

That Wild, Wild Country was fascinating. Watched it a few months ago. Will definitely be watching the yoga one. Thanks for the suggestion. Looking forward to the meditations.

My only beef with that documentary is that I think Osho’s philosophy might have had a lot more to it than viewers would have been led to believe. (they kind of painted it it as simply a sex cult.)

That’s not a defense of the dude, but it seems like they might have overlooked some key nuance. Which again gets us to the question of: how can seemingly somewhat enlightened people go so wrong?

I felt Osho’s philosophy had some merit. It fascinates me how it went so wrong. Money, power, the citizens of the town, the followers of Osho running the shindig; just a recipe for disaster.

I decided to take an 8 week meditation course called Opening The Heart! It teaches meeting your pain and inner critic with compassion. Both my pain and inner critical have huge knee-jerk reactions to election fear and anxiety! If I get anxious I can play the recorded sessions over and over. Plus any other recorded courses I have access to!

Dan, thank you so much for doing this! I am weary of this election, tv election ads and the relentless emails asking for donations. I am with you all the way and glad I don’t have to worry alone!
