It's not just last night or this election in general. It's been nine long, long, LONG years of trying to drink from a firehose of pure insanity. That got old about six years ago.

I'm exhausted and terrified at the same time... For 9 years.

Thank you for this.

I love the solo episodes, Dan. Keep going.

I’m also leaning into humor, this time around. Jon Stewart is helping. ✌️

The cheat sheet is great! The first time I listened to this, I wrote these down myself, which is fine, but I love having this reference in addition to the audio.

While we are on the subject of sources, one thing I really appreciate is when podcasters have a list of articles, books, and other sources mentioned at the end of the summary. I listen while I’m walking, and I don’t always recall what sources you and your guests reference.

Thank you for your work. Looking forward to what’s next!

Ooof I wish I could embrace #2. I know what you mean by it being oddly soothing to know where the “other side” is coming from. And the more nuance you know about their point of view, the more likely you are to find some area of common ground, no matter how slim. But even reading too much news coverage that is “neutral” or from my political point of view makes me anxious! 😆 Then there is the time investment involved in finding the reliable people/sources of all political stripes; it feels like a lot. If you wanted to drop some sources on both sides somewhere, that would be great!

When I was in my 20s (until the political tsunami of 1994, lol), I was a legislative assistant for a Member of Congress and I was completely into politics/policy and now I don’t know how I did it without going crazy. The tone was really different then, though. 🫤

Ahhhhh I meant get behind #3, diversifying sources. Obviously I’m super on top of limiting my news consumption, haha.

My takeaway and something that resonates a lot is about hearing the story of the "other". It's all about perception. It reminds me of the teaching from Thich Nhat Hanh about the six mantras of true love where the sixth mantra is "You are partly true. You are partly right.”

Loved this episode, the cheat sheet, the PDF of the script, and especially, the opportunity to chat and read what others think.

Loved this. I’ve heard you speak about many of these tips but great to be reminded in the context of what’s happening politically. I think the solo episode is great.

Your 8 strategies resonate easily. Thanks Dan. My husband and I cancel each other's vote out at every election - it gets intense and complicated. I need these reminders to stay in my truth and lane. I've always liked the quote: "Quiet is the voice of the convinced; loudness is the voice of the unconvinced". Prayers for our nation...

Dan - I think the solo episodes are fantastic; however, I don't want to lose the rich content provided by your interviews with established teachers. Both please! I love the cheat sheet, saves me time on making my own. Great tips, the ones that are in my toolkit are: Mindfulness & Self-compassion. When I catch myself spinning (which is greatly aided by mindfulness). I step back, recognize the emotions, and reflect on common humanity. We're all in this together. Even the folks I don't agree with. I also find that "Action absorbs anxiety", even if the action is small and likely inconsequential. Doing something rather than nothing helps me get out of my head.

So glad you're staying in the game, Dan. Your work and your app, regardless of what I'm sorry was a painful change, has been central to my wellbeing. I also recommend it heartily to many colleagues and students, so please keep it up!

Dan, really appreciate the insight and shared suggestions. So much division in our communities, states, political parties. I wish more would follow simple guidelines like these to move toward common goals.

Great podcast and some very valuable advice. I enjoyed this format of just you talking, but I also love when you interview people. You’re closing tip of, “what do I need now?” is a superb one. My therapist often uses that one when I come to her with a problem. :)

Keep up the awesome work, Dan !
