One of the many reasons why people get discouraged about their meditation practice is that they’ve adopted the mistaken belief that meditation is supposed to feel good.
Write this down and put it up on the wall:
The point of meditation is not to feel any kind of way; it’s to clearly feel whatever you’re feeling, so that your thoughts/urges/emotions don’t own you as much.
In other words: don’t worry if meditation sucks. The goal is not to achieve a state of bliss. It’s to learn how to be mindful of whatever’s going on, so that you can have a different—and healthier—relationship to your inner chaos and cacophony.
I talk about this on my podcast today with two of my favorite teachers: Ofosu Jones-Quartey and Cara Lai.

Cara and Ofosu will also be in the subscriber chat today, ready to chop it up and answer your questions. Hope to see you there.
