I understand that sentiment, and will check out the Daily Show, but it’s sort of the opposite of what the meditation is suggesting. My experience is that telling my fears to go away — just makes them larger.
If I am getting this right, we would all do well to lean into what we really care about, lean in the love of our country and of justice and the need for our own personal safety and the desire for the safety of the people more vulnerable than us. To really care about it all — and to not allow those whom we disagree with, or the folks who want to politically take power from us — to diminish our capacity to love. To accept that the people we disagree with have their own fears and concerns and that we would all do well to have compassion for them.
