I only just listened to this episode. Holy cow - Hari’s work is based on massive assumptions that are questionable at best. First off BMI. If you dig into the numbers just a bit, the only people who aren’t obese are thin as rails. Second, the stats he throws around about the causation between being overweight (however that is defined) and horrible medical outcomes is wildly overstated. I was skeptical throughout but then toward the end he said (multiple times) for MOST PEOPLE who go on anti-depressants, they eventually stop working. I would love to see the research on that. It doesn’t even pass the smell test. Glad I didn’t spend time reading his book!
