Such a great read! Thanks for being willing to share your areas for improvement. Reminds me we are all in this together. Yesterday someone shared the emotion wheel with me and it reminded me of what a useful tool it is to help dive into what is really behind the anger or sadness you are feeling. It normally gives me a clue - oh that’s why I’m actually feeling this anger it’s based on _______. Then I can typically deal with whatever it is a bit better.
Having recently been on a meditation retreat that you, your brother, and Sarah Fetter put together, I’d say you nailed the Buddha’s list on leadership qualities. Just saying:)
I love this list — and this post —wish it would be taught in schools. The clarity and clear direction could have saved us all a lot of suffering. I am running myself through the list and um, man, do I have work to do. Crawling back in bed now. No. Kidding. This is inspirational and full of love. Thank you, Dan .
Your humility is inspiring. Thank you for sharing your wonderfully imperfect self with us. It allows us to have the courage to admit that we are not perfect and that that’s okay.
My astrologer Rob Brezsny (here on the stack) forecast hit the same time as your link. Love the quote by Robin Wall Kimmerer in his post today: All flourishing is mutual
All flourishing is mutual, and quotes from Toni Morrison and Audre Lorde.
I really appreciate and value your willingness to be self reflective as a way of sharing content with us. I find it very effective in terms of learning what you are offering, but also inspiring. It encourages me to do the same and gives me examples of how to do it. Thank you, Dan!
Thank you, Dan. It is very helpful to me to be reminded of the Dharma. Right speech is hard for me when I am frightened. I try to remind myself that although this feels like the biggest, worst thing in the moment, HHDL was exiled from his home as a child. That was certainly a bigger challenge. I appreciate you and your team so much. We don’t know each other but I am grateful to have you as a Dharma friend.
Thank you for offering the meditations this week. So many of us are feeling the heaviness right now.
I LOVE this list so much! And I love that you're asking us to do some self-reflection about those same qualities.
You're doing great work that I really appreciate!
Some friendly feedback... when referring to leaders and historical leadership figures (even if it's a trope), it would be great to include some women in that list, please. Thank you in advance.
Good morning. Your emails have really been landing. Imagine if everyone at least tried to live by the Buddha’s teachings. I *try* daily. Some days are better than others. I know you have been asked time again - one more for the people in the back - a good introductory book to the Buddha’s teachings and a book about mindful meditation. (I have Joseph Goldstein’s book Mindfulness. Haven’t started reading it). As always, thank you!

You probably already know this, but this is consistent with a spiritual practice called Chod (1st described by an 11th century female Tibetan Buddhist teacher named Machig Labdron), and laid out clearly in a more modern text: Feeding your Demons, by Lama Tsultrim Allione. It is also similar to some practices of IFS.
Excellent list! Those leadership qualities look like the 10 Paramis, aka 10 Perfections :-)
A friendly suggestion: could you give credit to the author of the quotes you use? I've seen a few times you simply paraphrase these wise quotes where an actual attribution seems more appropriate. Or, perhaps there is a reason for omitting the author, hoping that people will search for the quote? If so, it worked on me. Maybe it will for you too? ;-)

Thanks for continuing to share the wise words, and take care.
Wow! Your number 3 gave me the chills! Anger is an emotion I’ve been conditioned to stuff! No wonder I’m so anxious, especially during these times marked by intense firestorms, not only on the hillsides of Los Angeles but also geopolitically. Love that you share the pearls of wisdom that you’ve acquired during your inner journey over this past decade and how you’ve applied what you’ve learned. Sharing your progress and your challenges have been making a positive impact on the lives of many, Dan. Thank you!🙏🏾
Bookmarking this. In addition to other uses, this is a good reminder for me on how to conduct myself. Thanks! 😊

Great read. A fantastic list to keep in mind every day.
Thanks, great read!
Thank you Dan. Just what I needed after reading the news. I’m grateful to have found you & this support for my meditation. Perfect timing! Thanks!
